Round 3 – Mens Singles

Arvind Bhat lost a hard fought three setter to fifth seeded Misbun Ramdan Mohmed Misbun from Malaysia 19-21, 21-17, 20-22

It was a close match from the start to finish. In the first set, while the Malaysian jumped up with a 3-0 lead, Arvind caught up well and went on to take the lead and maintain it for most part of the first set. In fact, Arvind led 19-16 at one time and then gave up five consecutive points to lose the first set 21-19.

In the second set, Arvind took the lead from the beginning, but when the Malaysian came back to lead 8-7 at one point, Arvind stepped up the gear and made sure from that point on, he never gave up the lead and closed the game at 21-17.

In the third set, it was a pendulum with each player getting just one or two points and then giving up the lead. The lead changed 12 times during this set and finally when it was 20-all, Misbun held on to his nerves to win 22-20.
