Airport Authority of India wins All India Inter Instituition Badminton Tournament

Airport Authority of India (AAI) has claimed the top honours in the All India Inter Instituitional Badminton Tournament 2013 at Tirupati.

AAI won both the mens and womens team championships, emerging as the victorious team.

  • 13: Parupalli Kashyap has dropped from 11th to 13th position after Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia (winner of Singapore Open 2013 ), Mark Zwiebler of Germany and Takuma Ueda of Japan leaped ahead of him due to very good performances.
  • 22: R.M.V.Gurusaidutt improved from 23rd to 22nd position
  • 24: Ajay Jayaram improved one by going from 25th to 24th position.
  • 37: Sourabh Varma remained unchanged this week in 37th position.
  • 40: Sai Praneeth had the biggest jump this week. He moved up by 5 positions, all based on his good performances recently.
  • 41: K.Srikanth continues to climb ahead after his victory in the Thailand Open and has now improved by one more rank.
  • 43: Anand Pawar dropped five positions from 38th to 43rd.

Womens Singles

  • 49: Arundhati Pantawane: Arundhati has jumped up by 10 positions this week – due to her good performance over a period of time.

  • 29: Tarun Kona and Ashwini Ponnappa dropped one position this week.
  • 46: Arun Vishnu and Aparna Balan jumped up nine positions to break into the Top 50 for the first time.

14 Indians qualify for World Championships 2013

There is good news for Indian Badminton lovers.

This year fourteen Indian players have qualified for the World Badminton Championships to be held in Guangzhau, China in from 5th August to 11th August 2013.

This is a very good progress from what we have seen in the past.
