FUZHOU: Siril Verma’s dream run to clinch the Gold at the BWF World Junior (U-19) Badminton Championships came to an end in the finals of the BWF Juniors World Championshps at Lima, Peru.

In the finals, Siril was defeated by Chia Hung Lu [6] of Chinese Taipei 17-21, 21-10, 21-7 in 50 minutes. Siril gave his best here to outwit the Chinese Taipei player but could not make it.

In the first game, Siril was playing one of his best games, where he started to take an initial lead 0f 2-0 and had a consecutive lead till Hung levelled the scores at 6-6. Again Siril managed to move ahead and was equalled at 12-12. This scenario was progressing until the scores were levelled at 17-17 for the last time, after which Siril straight away won the first game 21-17 against the Chinese Taipei player.

In the second game, Hung played a different game, which made Siril clueless and managed to take only 10 points as Hung was flyer in the second won 21-10 and pushed Siril for a decider.

The deciding game also witnessed the same effects of the second game, where Siril managed to hung on till 4-4 with Hung. Bur Hung played a fast as well as a tactical game who constsntly scored points in clusters. For the final time, Hung was leading 15-7. From here Hung took 6 straight points to pocket the boys singles championship.

Siril Verma In Semi Finals Of The BWF Junior World Championship 2015, Assures Bronze Medal

NAGPUR: The dream run of Siril Verma continues in the progressing BWF World Junior (U-19) Badminton Championships at Lima in Peru.

Siril defeated Satheishtharan R. [10] 21-15, 21-14 to enter the men’s singles semifinals on Friday. The match lasted for 37 minutes.

It was Siril who started the game with a nearly lead of 3-0. He progressed well until the Malaysian followed Siril and equalled the scores at 10-10. From here the game was a neck to neck affair until the score was 15-15. After which Siril opened up a huge gap by giving no chance to score for the Malaysian, to move straight to 21 to claim the first game 21-15.

The second game started off the same way like the first game, where Siril opened the account and took the lead 2-0. Until the scores 9-9, it was a neck to neck to battle for both as each surging for a big lead. After 9-9, the Malaysian did not get his rhythm correct and was stranded at 14 while Siril notched up high and comfortably pocketing the game and the match in his favour.

Since, Siril has moved to the semi finals and surpassed the quarter finals stage, he is assured of a bronze medal.

The 17 year old Siril Verma can be one of the prospects in the boys section along Chirag sen in the boys singles, In the boys doubles, it can be Krishna Prasad and Satwiksairaj Raniki Reddy. while in the girls section India may depend on Ruthvika Shivani, the current senior national champion as far as Indian badminton is concerned.

All of them train at the Pullela Gopichand Academy, Hyderabad.

NAGPUR: The dream run of Siril Verma continued in the progressing BWF World Junior (U-19) Badminton Championships at Lima in Peru.

Siril defeated third seed Anders Antonsen of Denmark 21-12, 18-21, 21-15 to enter the men’s singles quarterfinal late on Thursday. The match lasted for 58 minutes.

Siril had the chance to win the second game, but got lost somewhere which made the Danis h player cliam the second game in his favour. However, Siril overcame this situation and registered a thrilling victory over the Danish player.

Earlier in the third round, Siril had upset ninth seed Kantaphon Wangcharoen of Thailand in straight games.

Siril will now clash with the tenth seed R Satheishtharan of Malaysia on Friday for a spot in the semifinals. If Siril wins his quarterfinal match then he is assured of a bronze medal.

Siril trains at the Pullela Gopichand Academy, Hyderabad.

The other Indian singles competitors, Chirag Sen and G Ruthvika Shivani run ended in the pre-quarters.

G Ruthvika Shivani lost to the Eleventh seed Natsuki Nidaira of Japan 13-21, 21-11, 21-10.

Chirag Sen was defeated by another Japanese player Koki Watanabe, seeded No. 15 here 21-18, 21-9.

NAGPUR: A.S.S. Siril Verma and Chirag Sen booked their men’s singles pre-quarterfinals berth respectively in the progressing BWF World Junior (U-19) Badminton Championships at Lima, Peru, on Thursday.

Siril beat France’s Thomas Baures 21-5, 21-13 in his second round encounter on Wednesday and continued his tremondous form where he caused a big upset of the day, by defeating the ninth seed Kantaphon Wangcharoen of Thailand 21-13, 21-13 in 31 minutes.

Siril will now clash with third seed Anders Antonsen of Denmark for a spot in the quarterfinals.

It is noteable that Siril, trains at the Pullela Gopichand Academy, Hyderabad.

Similarly, Chirag, defeated Fethican Degirmenci of Turkey 21-13, 21-10 in his first round encounter on Wednesday. In the second round Chirag, seeded 15 here gave a fight back and defeated Denmark’s Mikkel Enghoj in straight games.

Chirag will face Koki Watanabe of Japan in the pre-quarters match.

In the women’s singles category, Ruthvika Shivani, seeded 7th here will meet eleventh seed Natsuki Nidaira of Japan in the pre-quarters.

India Ousts Korea For 9th Spot In World Junior Badminton Championships

NAGPUR: India outclassed Korea 3-0 to finish creditable ninth in the BWF World Junior (Under-19) Mixed Team Badminton Championships at Lima, Peru.

In the play-off match to decide the ninth spot, Indian boys doubles shuttlers performed well to register an impressive victory. The pair Krishna Prasad Garaga and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won their match that gave the team a flying start. Ruthvika Shivani also won her singles match followed by Ansal Yadav who won his boys singles match to clinch the tie.

In the last edition, India had finished 13th. After the team championships, the individual events will begin on Wednesday.

RESULTS:
India beat Korea 3-0:

Boys Single’s: Ansal Yadav bt Woo Hyuk Kang 17-21, 21-13, 24-22.

Girls Single’s: G Ruthvika Shivani bt Ye Rim Shim 21-10, 21-14.

India Upset Germany In BWF Junior World Championships 2015

NAGPUR: India defeated Germany 3-0 in the BWF World Junior (U-19) Mixed Team Championships at Lima, Peru on Saturday.

In the group match, India outsmarted Germany without losing a single game. With this fluent victory, Indian will be placed at the ninth spot provided they win their last outing.

India had finished 13th in the last edition.

India will now play Korea later tonight. The Koreans had beaten Singapore 3-1 in their previous match on Saturday.

RESULTS
India beat Germany (3-0) M.R. Arjun-Chirag Shetty bt Bjarne Geiss-Jan Colin Volker 21-18, 21-17; Sri Krishna Priya K bt Miranda Wilson 21-10, 21-11; A.S.S. Siril Verma bt Felix Hammes 21-14, 21-13.

Indian shuttlers Advance In BWF Junior World Championships 2015

NAGPUR: Three successive victories have helped India advanced to the play-offs stage of the BWF World Junior (U-19) Mixed Team Badminton Championships being played at Lima, Peru, on Thursday.

Indian team started correctly by defeating Salvador 5-0 in their opening Group A2 match. In the next round, they got a walkover from Zambia. In the third stage, India came the better of USA 3-1 on Thursday.

The Indian boy’s doubles pair, M.R. Arjun and Chirag Shetty gave the perfedt start up with a 1-0 lead which was then doubled by Ruthvika Shivani, the senior national champion by winning her girls singles. Siril Verma followed this footsteps once again by winning the boys singles to take India to a 3-0 lead.

Although, the women’s doubles pair of J.K. Malavika and Karishma Wadkar lost to USA duo of Jamie Hsu and Crystal Pan in three games.

The other team in Group A2, Malaysia also have registered three wins so far. India will now take on Malaysia on Friday to decide who will be the Group A2 topper. However, both India and Malaysia have already qualified for the next stage.

India will now play in the knock out stage.
