BAHRAIN: Saili Rane claimed her second successive runner up title in the women’s singles finals which concluded recently here in Shaikh Khalifa Sports City, Isa Town, Bahrain.

The women’s singles finals was indeed tough for Saili as she failed to pocket the first game as Jindapol wassteady in her approach. In the second game, Saili committed many unforced errors as she was struggling to adapt to the bird’s flight as she changed sides against the fifth-seeded Nitchaon Jindapol of Thailand. Jindapol was also a tough opponent for Saili Rane.

The Thailand girl Nitchaon Jindapol [5] won 24-22, 21-10 over India’s Saili Rane.

As far as this tournament is considered, Rane had a splendid run both in the Victor-Rayan Bahrain International series 2015 throughout this tournament.

The major upset in the tournament was Saili had eliminated seventh-seeed Petya Nedelcheva of Bulgaria 21-18, 16-21, 21-19 in a match that lasted for 1 hour and 17 minutes.

BAHRAIN: Sameer Verma won his Men’s singles title by clinching the Bahrain International Challenge at Isa Town.

Sameer beat Singapore’s Zi Lian Derek Wong 21-14, 21-10 to make it two in a row at the Bahrain International Series 2015.

Sameer, Seeded 11th in the tournament, took just 27 minutes to clinch his Men’s Singles title.

The Indian also defeated and was in superb touch when he won his countryman and ended the dream run of Rahul Yadav Chittaboina, winning the match 21-13, 21-17 in the semifinals in 38 minutes.

In the quarterfinals, it is remarkable to note Sameer outsed the top seed in this tournament and world number 42 Tien Minh Nguyen 17-21, 21-14, 21-9. The match lasted for an hour and one minute to be precise.

Speaking about his good show in Bahrain, Sameer said, “I am really happy with the way I have been able to play over the last two weeks. There were some tough matches especially the quarterfinals against (Tien Minh) Ngyen and I am happy to have won. After these victories, I hope that I can continue my good form through the year.”

NAGPUR: Sameer Verma and Saili Rane caused big upsets to enter the semifinals of the Bahrain International Challenge Badminton tournament at Isa Town, Bahrain, on Thursday.

Verma, who had triumphed earlier in the Victor-Rayan Bahrain International Series last week, fought back valiently to stun top seed Tien Minh Nguyen of Vietnam 17-21, 21-14, 21-9 in an exciting men’s singles quarterfinal, which lasted 61 minutes.

He then defeated fellow countryman C Rahul Yadav to seal his place in the finals. Sameer, seeded 11 in the tournament will now face Zi Liang Derek Wong of Indonesia, seeded four here for the title clash on saturday.

In the women’s singles, Saili Rane unseeded here in the tournament did with an upset win over seventh seed Petya Nedelcheva ranked at world No. 45 of Bulgaria 21-18, 16-21, 21-19 in a marathon quarterfinal which lasted for an hour and 17 minutes.

Saili, world No. 58 presently, clashed with Indonesia’s Gabriela Meilani Moningka in the semifinal. However, the Indian made a mark by winning the match 19-21, 21-13, 21-13 in 1 hour and 7 minutes.

Saili, started a shaky first game and gave away points to the Indonesian. After found the rhythm right, Saili tried to catch up with the indonesian to finsh of the first game, but Meilani was in a good position to finish off the first game in her favour.

In the second game, Saili played one of her best game realizing the game situation, rallied superbly to push the game to a decider.

In the decider also, it was Saili who was in charge of the game and never let the Indonesian to come near her and pocketed the decider 21-13 to enter into her final berth.

Saili Rane will now face Nitchaon Jindapol [5], of Thailand for the title clash.

Sameer Verma, seeded 11 in this tournament cut short the dream run of C Rahul Yadav, a qualifier here and one of his practice partners at the Pullela Gopichand Academy in the semi finals in straight games 21-13, 21-17. Sameer Verma knew well about the game style of Rahul and never gave Rahul a chance for a change of game plan, capitalized on it and won the match.

It is remarkable to note the efforts of Rahul Yadav Chittaboina, unseeded here who played his qualification round to enter into the main draw and ousted many countrymen before going down to Sameer.

Rahul Yadav Chittaboina Survives A Thriller In The Bahrain International Series 2015

BAHRAIN: Rahul Yadav Chittaboina an upcoming indian shuttler was nearly knocked out of the Bahrain International Series badminton tournament here, yesterday on 4 Nov 2015.

Rahul, however held to his nerves and won a dramatic battle which lasted for 1 hour and 2 minutes, where the Indian defeated Ygor Coelho De Oliveira of Brazil, a ninth seed here in the tournament 12-21, 22-20, 22-20.

In the first game, Rahul was unsettled, but held his nerve in the second game to push the game to a decider.

However, in the third game, it was a neck to neck affair and again Rahul made his intentions clear by not giving up till the end and won the decider in his favour.

Rahul defeated his fellow countryman Pratul Joshi in the quarter finals 23-21 12-21 21-12 to move ahead in the tournament.

Rahul next faces Sameer Verma also from India in the semi finals contest and an eleventh seed here in the tournament .

It is noteable and remarkable that Rahul is unseeded here in this tournament and fought through all these rounds to reach the semi final stage after winning the qualifying rounds earlier from the start of the tournament.

BAHRAIN: One of the India’s Top shuttler R. M. V. Gurusaidutt is out of the Men’s Singles in the
progressing Bahrain International Series badminton Tournament here in Bahrain on 4th November 2015.

It was a forgettable day for second seed RMV Gurusaidutt, a second seed here, also the Commonwealth Games bronze medallist was one of the hot favourites to win the title, lost to Martin Giuffre [14] of Canada 21-17, 9-21, 21-18.

Gurusai was not comfortable in his first game and made some unforced errors in his smashes which led to hand over the game to Martin.

As they changed sides, Guru was feeling more composed and took the game to his sides, by nearly playing a flawless badminton and pushed his game to decider.

However, in the decider, again guru was in his wrong side of the court and he was not able to read the shuttle well. This was captivated by Martin and raised to a good lead as they changed sides. From here, Guru tried to come near martin, but could only catch up with 18 points, 3 points deficit in winning his quarter finals encounter and eventually handed over the match to Martin Giuffre.

BAHRAIN: India’s Sameer Verma, number 11 seed defeated Nguyen Tien Minh, Number one seed in the men’s singles quarter-finals 21-17, 14-21, 9-21 at the 2015 Bahrain International Challenge in Isa Town, Bahrain, on November 5.

In the first game, it was Tien who looked better off and won the first game 21-17. It was in the second where Verma played on of his best badminton game in his career to outwit Tien 14-21 and 9-21.

“He (Tien) is basically a rally player. I realized after losing the first game that I have to finish the points as quickly as possible. I attacked him more and did not give him any chance for long rallies. The move clicked. It was perhaps my most important wins in the international tournaments,” Verma told TOI on Friday.

Rahul Yadav Chittaboina made the dream run of Pratul Joshi look sore with a three-game win in the quarters finals.

Verma will now play against his Gopichand Academy practice partner C Rahul Yadav for a spot in another final.

Verma Clinches The Singles Trophy In Style

India and Malaysia claimed the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively as the Victor-Rayan Sports Bahrain International Series 2015 badminton event came to a close last night at the Shaikh Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town.

Top-seeded Sameer Verma of India outplayed countryman Pratul Joshi 21-13, 18-21, 21-8 in the final to clinch the men’s singles crown.

The Bahrain International Challenge 2015 event will start tomorrow at the same venue. More than 150 players from 32 countries are taking part in the competition.
