DUBAI: Srikanth was ousted at the progressing BWF-Superseries Finals at the Hamdan Sports Complex at Dubai on Friday.
Srikanth, who had already exited after losing Thursday’s match, continued with his poor run as he suffered his third successive defeat in the men’s singles in the tournament featuring big talents od badminton scross the globe.
Srikanth was down 2-0, as he played his last league round against Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien chen, a must win match but, lost miserably 17-21, 13-21 in a 32-minute contest.
Srikanth proved no match to his opponent, winning just 30 points as compared to 42 by the Taipei shuttler.
In the opening game, the Taipei player straight away opened up a 3-0 lead and kept on extending it, even as Srikanth played the catch-up game to eventually lose it 17-21.
The Second game was a neck to neck affair, as Srikanth was crawling back for a fightback in the second game till the scores tied at 11-11. But, after the interval, Tien-chen won staright away five points to surge still ahead of Srikanth. Although managed scoring couple of points, the Taipei shuttler did not give the Indian any more chance to make a comeback, by again bagging four more successive points to seal the match in his favour.
It is noteable that Srikanth had earlier beaten the Taipei player at the Hong Kong Open 2015 and has a 1-0 head to head before this tournament.
With this loss Srikanth is out of the BWF-Superseries Finals.
