The top Men’s doubles Indian pair Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy entered the quarter finals of the Scottish Open Grand Prix at Glasgow on Friday.

As the match started and progressed they did not get the rhythm right and lost their first game, but however managed to set it right at the correct time to defeat Christopher Coles (England) and Jelle Maas (Netherlands) 17-21, 21-17, 21-14 in a match that lasted almost an hour.

The Indian pair will now meet Andrew Ellis and Peter Mills of England fifth seeds in the quarters. The English pair is ranked 35 in the world.

The Indians had defeated them in both their previous meetings.

Kashyap Drops In World Rankings

Parupalli Kashyap.(Image Courtesy :indianexpress.com).

One of the promising and talented shuttlers Kashyap had to go down in his rankings this year as he has not participated in a couple of major international tournaments due to his fitness and injuries.

He will not take part in the progressing Thaihot Chamionships due to a calf muscle tear, he sustained while playing against Rajiv Ouseph at the French Open 2015 badminton championship earlier just before the current tournament.

The BWF released the latest world ranking for all the players. Currently Kashyap has gone down to World No.13. Kashyap was overtaken by South Korean Son Wan Ho, who is in at No.11.

The other Indian top shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth, H.S. Prannoy and Ajay Jayaram are positioned with their previous rankings at No.5, 21 and 25 respectively.

In women’s singles, Indian ace Saina Nehwal remained at No.2 while P. V. Sindhu also did not move from No.13.

In the men’s doubles, Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy are stagnant at No.20.

In the women’s doubles Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa remained at No.11 of women’s doubles.

Manu Attri, Sumeet Runner’s Up @ The Dutch open 2015

Dutch Open 2015

Manu @ dutch open__1

Manu Attri & B. Sumeet Reddy – Runner’s Up.

The indian doubles pair of Manu Attri and B. Sumeet Reddy had a fabulous run at the Dutch Open 2015 which concluded yesterday here in style. The indian pair were the runner’s up in the tournament when they felt slightly unrealistic when they could not get the better of the malaysian pair Kien Keat Koo [7]/Boon Heong Tan where they lost in straight games 21-15, 21-10.

The malaysian pair were very much commanding over the game, and even when the indians managed for a neck-to-neck affair, the malaysians were more speedy in their approach which sometimes made the indians not par with them. However, the indian pair managed some aesthetic approach to their strategic game and gained 15 points in their first game and 10 in their second which are actually note worthy.

Other round results:

  1. Manu Attri [2]/B. Sumeeth Reddy – Ruben Jille/Robin Tabeling Netherland – No Match.
  2. Manu Attri [2]/B. Sumeeth Reddy won against Mark Caljouw/Jelle Maas Netherlands 21-13, 19-21, 21-18.
  3. Manu Attri [2]/B. Sumeeth Reddy ousts Max Schwenger [5]/Josche Zurwonne of Germany 18-21, 21-13, 21-19.
  4. Manu Attri [2]/B. Sumeeth Reddy won against Andrew Ellis/Peter Mills of England 22-20, 19-21, 21-14.
  5. Manu Attri & B. Sumeet Reddy lost to the Malaysian pair 22-20, 19-21, 21-14.

R.M.V Dutt, Ajay in Quarters, Thulasi Out @ The Dutch Open 2015

Dutch Open 2015

The Dutch Open here in Almere saw a see-saw battle for the Indian Contigents yesterday, as there was some impeccable loss to some of the indians even after a hard fought rally.

However the Men’s single’s players, Ajay Jayaram and R.M.V found it easy to move to the quarters except for P.C Thulasi who fought hard against Chloe Magee of Ireland 21-19, 21-23, 21-19. But she should have wrapped the first game, but missed it by a whisker, leading to her loss in the match and eventually the tournament.

In the Men’s doubles category, Mannu Attri and B. Sumeet Reddy rallied past and kept their nerves under control to pull a win against Mark Caljouw/Jelle Maas pair from Netherlands.

Akshay Dewalkar/Pranaav Jerry Chopra [8] pair lost to Martin Campbell/Patrick Machugh of Scotland 21-14 21-18 in straight games. However, in the first game, the indian pair found it hard to kepp the momentum and to adjust to the bird. In the second they missed some important rallies that could have won their second game and failed to capitalize on the same that eventually ended them for a loss in the tournament.

Men’s singles:

  1. Ajay Jayaram [3] of India won against Kasper Lehikoinen of Finland 21-14, 21-13.
  2. R. M. V. Gurusaidutt [9] won against Dmytro Zavadsky of Ukraine 21-12, 21-11.

Women’s Singles:

  1. P.C.Thulasi lost to Chloe Magee of Ireland 21-19, 12-23, 21-19.

Men’s Doubles:

  1. Manu Attri [2]/B. Sumeeth Reddy won against Mark Caljouw/Jelle Maas Netherlands 21-13, 19-21, 21-18.
  2. Akshay Dewalkar/Pranaav Jerry Chopra [8] pair lost to Martin Campbell/Patrick Machugh of Scotland 21-14, 21-18.
