ODENSE: It was a mixed luck for India in day 1 when the men’s, women’s went througha See-Saw battle in their respective first round match encounters. In the Men’s Doubles event, the Men’s doubles pair of Manu Attri and B. Sumeet Reddy ousted Marcus ELLIS and Chris LANGRIDGE of England 24-22, 21-13 in about 50 minutes. It was a hard fought battle in the first game, but eventually the Indians played a smart game in the second game and came up with some stunning winners that made them to clinch the second game in their favour.

The next day was even more better for the Indian duo pair who made their mark even with a hard fought battle with the Chinese Taipei players Lee Sheng Mu [8] and Tsai Chia Hsin by missing a whisker and losing the battle 21-19, 20-22, 21-19. It was the third game that made the diffference in the indian pair and brought them their confidence to fight it back in the third.

Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa, the Top Women’s doubles pair from India went down from World No. 11 to ranked No. 12 in the latest women’s doubles rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Thursday.

The drop in their rankings was mainly due to their quarter-final loss at the World Championships later this year, their first round loss at the Japan Open and did not play the Victor Korea Open 2015 as well.

Meanwhile in the Men’s Doubles section, the pair of Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy also dropped a spot down from 19th position to World No. 20.

Ajay Jayaram Defends 2015 Dutch Open Men’s Single’s Title

Dutch Open 2015

Ajay Jayaram claimed the 2015 Dutch Open Badminton title, his second in concession after over coming against Raul Must of Estonia in straight games 21-14, 21-15 in about 40 minutes.

Ajay struggled to get past his opponent in the Semi Finals stage however, it was an esay run for him in the finals.

It is remarkable to notch up a victory here, as Ajay had earlier lost to Raul Must in the Austrian International Challenge way back in 2010 and Raul Must was the one who also ended the run of another Indian RMV Gurusaidutt in the quarterfinals. It was like a revenge for Ajay against Raul to win a title here.

“Amazing win today! Thank you guys so much for your love, support and wishes!,” tweeted Jayaram.

Jayaram also quoted, “I am happy with the way I played this week. It has been a fantastic week. I am happy with the way I defended the title. I did well in the last tournament and I came into this event as highest ranked player. So there was a lot of expectation and pressure,” said.

“But my positive attitude helped me and I enjoyed myself on court,” he added.

“Next up for me is the Danish Open Super Series. Bigger challenges are awaiting there. I am looking to take the positives from this tournament and give my best next week,” he said.

In the Men’s Doubles match, the indian pair failed to capitalize on some occasions in the first game against the Malaysian pair and also the indian pair some times struggled against the Malaysian pair . If the indian pair had won the first game, they would have got their confidence back and the match scenerio would have been different and eventaully lost in their final hurdle with a three game defeat 22-20, 19-21, 21-14.

Ajay, Men’s Doubles pair in Semis @ The Dutch Open 2015

Dutch Open 2015

Almere: Ajay jayaram seeded no.3 here had a tough contender to face against to move ahead to the semi final stage, which he had done by fighting it hard by winning his opponent Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin and took a sweet revenge who beat his fellow badminton player Anand Pawar earlier in the first round. Ajays match laster for an hour and 06 minutes to be precise.

R. M. V. Gurusaidutt [9] lost to Raul Must [12] of Estonia 19-21, 21-14, 21-18. He did not play his usual match, leaving his opponent to take advantage over him in the match.
