Gopichand To Launch His Second Badminton Academy In Gachibowli – Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Chief National Coach Pullela Gopichand and the former international player for India is all set to launch his second badminton academy at Gachibowli in the city here later this month of early next month, his first badminton academy is set up in 2003 is one of the best in Asia. It is also to note that one his badminton academy exists in Salem, Tamilnadu. So, Gopichand has 3 badminton academies across India to his credit.

The new academy will have nine-courts, rooms for players to stay, a gym and a cafeteria. This new academy is for the reason, We have had in the last few years a lot more players being trained. As such, we found it difficult for us to manage. Hopefully, this nine-court badminton hall will ease the pressure. Because, lot more players have started to play well and we need more infrastructure and this infrastructure will support us,” Gopichand told PTI.

It is expected that the new academy would be inaugurated by the Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao though the date for the event is yet to be finalised.

“We will have the inauguration done by the Union Sports Minister and the Chief Minister and we are just waiting for the dates. Hopefully, in the end of October or early part of November, we will have the inauguration,” he said.
