India’s Ace shuttler and World No.1 Saina Nehwal met the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi by gifting him one of her badminton racquets on the eve of Mr. Narendra Modi’s 65th birthday.
Saina quoted to the spokespersons, that “Mr. Narendra Modi knows well about my game as if he was one of the members of her family”. Saina was also stunned by the knowledge Mr. Modi has about sports and all the notable sports persons across India.
Saina and Mr. Narendra Modi discussed about the development of badminton in India emphasising kids to take up the sport. Discussions were also made on Common Wealth games and other major sport developments across the country, Rio Olympics, where Saina invited Mr. Narendra Modi for the Rio Olympics as a part of her gesture. The meeting lasted for about half an hour.
Saina now prepares for the forthcoming Denmark and the French Open Badminton Championships 2015.
