The BWF-President Medal for Mr. Yonex

The Founder and Honorary Chairman of Yonex Mr. Minoru Yoneyama received the Badminton World Federation’s highest honour – the President’s Medal – for his “truly exceptional contribution” to badminton. The medal was presented to Mr. Minoru Yoneyama by the BWF President Mr. Paul-Erik Hoyer Larsen minutes before the start of the Yonex Japan Open 2015 semi-finals in Tokyo.

Yoneyama is the second recipient of the award after His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand was presented with the award in the year 2012.

Mr. Yoneyama is working for the sport for the past 55 years. In 1946, Minoru Yoneyama founded his company after leaving the Japanese military. A specialist in wood products by himself, went on to produce badminton racquets from 1957.

Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa get a nod to the TOP Scheme

The sports Ministry of India has finally noded its head towards including Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa in the TOP (Target Olympic Podium) Scheme after much delay. Along with Jwala and Ashwini pair duo, the Indian Men’s Doubles pair of , ranked 21st who are ranked in the world, have also been included in the scheme.

These players will have the benefit of receiving funds from NSDF for their training needs and competition needs for preparing themselves for the forth-coming Rio Olympics 2016.
